About
At Freeman Design Group, we have a deep desire to enhance the beauty of our neighborhood and we express this through the homes we have the opportunity to work on.
Based in the historic Shasta Hanchett Park neighborhood of San Jose, we have a bounty of residences to inspire us each day. The craftsmanship highlighted in so many of these surrounding homes anchors our values at Freeman Design Group: Care in the craftsmanship, care in the design and proportions, individuality of each home, and timelessness of material while being environmental stewards improving the comfort of each home while making home more energy efficient, creating a healthy space for the family’s that live and work in.
We have worked on projects throughout the Bay Area and we feel honored to be a part of improving the families and communities we work with.

Jeremy Freeman
Jeremy’s interest in architecture started, as you might expect, playing with LEGO bricks when he was young. As his interest in drawing, sketching, and painting grew, he kept laser-focused on what he wanted to do through his education.
Jeremy has worked primarily in residential throughout his career. First, working in multifamily in D.C. for several years, then transitioned to custom single-family residential when working in Cincinnati. At this time, Jeremy fell in love with the unique aspect of every project and every client in the custom residential field. Getting to know the clients and how to craft a perfect house that fits the clients and their specific needs is a personal joy for Jeremy. With the vast amount of housing needed in California, his desire has expanded beyond just single-family homes and is getting back into the various options of multi-family in the Bay Area.
Outside of work, Jeremy enjoys spending time with his wife and two kids.
Jeremy holds a Master of Architecture from the University of Michigan and a Bachelor of Science in Architecture from the University of Texas, Arlington.

Edward Saum
Edward’s father was a math teacher and his mother was a classically trained mezzo-soprano turned real estate agent. Architecture, like mathematics and music, is an act of creation and problem-solving. This background in composition and analytical thought has informed his design process for over twenty-five years.
From his first job in a five-person office in West Palm Beach, Edward has worked almost exclusively on custom single-family design as part of small, client-focused firms. After eleven years in South Florida, the climate and proximity to family offered by the Bay Area drew him westward. With the office a fifteen-minute walk from his front door, he takes great pleasure working in and designing for the neighborhood he calls home.
Outside of work, Edward’s passion for community has led him to multi-year stints with Caltrain’s Bicycle Advisory Committee, the City of San Jose’s Historic Landmarks Commission, the Shasta Hanchett Park Neighborhood Association, and The Alameda Business Association. He and his wife, an elementary school teacher, enjoy every minute they can get with their teenage daughter.
Edward holds a Bachelor of Arts in Architecture from Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri.
